The Hoka Mafate X changes the game in competition. Until now, you had to choose between the comfort of a Mafate and the speed of a lightweight shoe. The "X" version breaks this compromise by integrating road technologies (Carbon + PEBA) into a chassis capable of withstanding mud and rocks. It's a shoe designed to break your records on 50 to 170 km courses.
The sole integrates two parallel carbon plates. Unlike a single rigid plate, this design allows the sole to twist laterally to conform to the terrain's irregularities, while providing rigid forward propulsion.

It offers a slightly more generous volume in the forefoot than the Speedgoat, but the instep hold is firmer due to the Matryx that does not stretch. The size remains similar.
