Yes, for connections (a few kilometers of asphalt) without any problem. However, it is not a road shoe: the lugs will wear out faster and the grip is not optimized for asphalt, especially when wet.
The Torrent 4 is designed first for breathability and moisture evacuation: it is not waterproof. If you are looking for Gore-Tex protection, consider another Hoka trail model offering a GTX version.
The Torrent 4 has a 5 mm drop. If you are coming from a high drop (10-12 mm), a gradual transition can help ease your calves. The Meta-Rocker profile makes the stride very natural.
