Cushioning Maximum

The Stinson 7 is designed for long-term comfort: a very thick midsole and softer foam absorb shocks on roads, tracks, and paths. Ideal if you're looking for maximum protection underfoot, even when the terrain becomes uneven.

Responsiveness Low

The focus is clearly on stability and softness, not pure speed. The Meta-Rocker geometry aids transition and makes the stride smooth, but the build (max stack + weight) is more suited to cool, long, and steady outings than fast sessions.

Why Upgrade to the Hoka Stinson 7?

The Hoka Stinson 7 is designed for those who want a single pair capable of doing it all: running on roads, tackling paths, and venturing onto easy trails with premium comfort. This version gains in stability, foam softness, and versatility, while retaining the "max-cushion" DNA of the Stinson family.

XXL Cushioning for Hours of Comfort

With its very high stack, the Stinson 7 filters out a lot of impact and protects from irregularities (pebbles, roots, compacted paths). The result: a reassuring shoe when you want to rack up miles without wearing out your legs.

It's an excellent option for long runs, recovery jogs, or days when you primarily seek comfort.

H-Frame™ + Active Foot Frame™: Stability Without Rigidity

The Stinson 7 integrates a H-Frame™ structure and a deeper bucket seat (Active Foot Frame™): the foot is better contained, the platform is more stable, and footstrikes are more secure on uneven terrain.

This is a real advantage for a very high shoe: you benefit from maximum cushioning, but with a significantly better sense of control, even when fatigue sets in.

Versatile Grip: From Asphalt to Trail

The outsole made of Durabrasion Rubber and its multidirectional lugs provide reliable traction on roads, gravel, forest paths, and rolling trails.

Note: This is not a "pure mountain" shoe. On very wet rock or very technical terrain, a more aggressive outsole and premium rubber will often be more effective. The Stinson 7 primarily targets road-to-trail versatility.

Hoka Stinson 7: For Which Type of Runner?

The Ideal Runner

  • Weight: The Stinson 7 is particularly interesting for runners seeking maximum protection and a very stable platform, especially on long outings. It is very suitable for medium to heavy builds or those who want to protect their joints.
  • Gait Type: Model for universal gait but with real integrated stability (H-Frame™, wide base, Active Foot Frame™). Ideal if you like reassuring shoes, or if you tend to "roll inward" at the end of your outings.

The Perfect Use

  • Varied Terrain: It excels on mixed outings: road + path + track + rolling trail. A true road-to-trail shoe when you don't want to change pairs.
  • Long Runs & Recovery: Its very protective cushioning is perfect for cool jogs, long, steady-paced outings, and days when you primarily seek comfort.
  • Sport Walking / Hiking: Thanks to its stability and protection, it also works very well for "outdoor" days (gravel, easy trails), especially if you like very cushioned shoes.

What Size to Choose for the Hoka Stinson 7?

The Stinson 7 offers a comfortable and secure fit, with a stable sensation underfoot. The mesh provides good support, and the forefoot is generally accommodating for long outings.

Our advice: Take your usual running size. If you are between sizes, choose the larger one (especially if you descend often or go for long runs).

Wide feet? The platform is wide and tolerant. If you have very wide feet, try them with your usual socks: a well-adjusted lacing and, if available, a wider version can further improve comfort.

FAQ – Hoka Stinson 7

The Stinson 7 evolves with softer foam, increased midsole height, and above all enhanced stability thanks to H-Frame™ technology and a deeper Active Foot Frame™. The grip is also more oriented towards "road-to-trail" versatility to alternate between road, tracks, and rolling trails.

Yes. It's even one of its strengths: it is designed for road & paths. On asphalt, the cushioning is very comfortable and the stride remains smooth. The lugs are still present, so the feel is a bit less "pure road" than a Bondi or Clifton, but the use is totally relevant.

Not ideally. The Stinson 7 is very high and very cushioned: it is perfect on rolling trails, tracks, and paths, but on very technical terrain (scree, steep slopes, wet rock), a more aggressive, precise, and "pure trail" shoe will generally be safer.

It offers integrated stability (H-Frame™, wide base, Active Foot Frame™) without being a "rigid" correction shoe. It suits neutral runners who want reassuring support, and can also help those who lack stability when fatigue sets in.

The Stinson 7 is mainly offered in breathable mesh and is not designed as a waterproof shoe. If you are looking for a Gore-Tex membrane, consider other Hoka models that come in a GTX version (depending on the range and availability).

The Challenger ATR is lighter and more "all-around" for daily running. The Stinson 7 focuses on maximum cushioning and more pronounced stability. If you prioritize comfort and protection: Stinson 7. If you seek more responsiveness: Challenger ATR.

Depending on the terrain and your build, you can expect around 600 to 800 km. Very frequent outings on asphalt and abrasive paths accelerate outsole wear, while soft trails extend longevity.

If you usually run with a 10-12 mm drop, a gradual adaptation may be helpful (calves/Achilles). However, the Stinson 7 remains very accessible thanks to its cushioning and midsole geometry that promotes a smooth transition.
