The MTB saddle, like the road bike saddle, is essential! After all, it's where you sit.
It plays a crucial role in providing good back and pelvis support.
It's a key component in the same way as the handlebars and pedals, the rider's other points of contact with his mountain bike.

The saddle on your Mountain Bike or your Road Bike is a key component as it is a contact point, along with Grips and Pedals.
A well designed Saddle will improve your cycling experience and comfort during long rides and will improve your health (free flow of blood, good sitting position to avoid back pain...)
Many kind of saddles are available on the market (MTB, Road, BMX specific...). Depending your type of riding, you can choose a lightweight model to improve your performance or a comfortable model with extra cushioning if you are a leisure cyclist.
Generally, a Saddle is attached to the Seatpost with two rails (cromo, metal or carbon).
How to choose a MTB Saddle
It can be difficult to choose the perfect model for your type of riding and morphology as the saddle is a personal item and hundreds of models are available on the market.
There are infinite variations of the human body which means that your friend's perfect Saddle could be the worst model for you!
You will have to choose the padding and the shape (width) to match your anatomy. Unfortunately, you may need to go through few models before finding the correct fit. We have one advice: Once you trust a saddle and you are happy with it, don't try to change it for another one.
