Break your records with the 4th generation of the legendary Vaporfly. Lighter, more aggressive, and featuring a reduced drop, it combines optimized ZoomX foam with the Flyplate for unmatched propulsion from 5ks to marathons.
The cushioning isn't there for comfort, but for performance. The ZoomX foam offers the best energy return on the market (85%), propelling the runner with every stride without bottoming out.
This is a racing "Super Shoe." Stability is improved over the v3 thanks to new geometry, but it remains demanding and requires strong ankles, especially in corners.
The Vaporfly 4 redefines aggressiveness. It leaves behind the classic 8mm drop for a 6mm offset, while further lightening its structure. The result: a sharper, lighter shoe built to smash your PR.
Nike has reworked its signature ZoomX foam. It is even lighter than before while maintaining its legendary bounce.
This weight reduction allows the shoe to drop below 170g, a feat for a model with this much stack height.
The full-length Flyplate carbon fiber plate has had its angle adjusted to work with the new 6mm drop.
The rocker effect is immediate: the shoe forces a mid-foot strike and projects you forward with controlled intensity.
The new woven mesh is a technical marvel: it is nearly transparent for maximum breathability and does not retain water.
The lockdown is precise yet minimalist, removing all extras to focus solely on the race.
The Nike Vaporfly 4 fits "True to size," but offers a very snug "Racing" fit that is close to the foot.
Our advice: Go with your usual Nike running shoe size. If you have wide feet, be aware: the toe-box is quite narrow to maximize lockdown at high speeds.
Unlike training models, it isn't necessary to leave too much room; the foot must feel at one with the shoe to activate the carbon plate effectively.
The V4 is more radical. It loses weight (approx. 165g) and most importantly, its drop goes from 8mm to 6mm. It offers a more natural and aggressive running sensation, with slightly improved stability thanks to a new outsole.
The Alphafly 3 (with its air pods) is the queen of the Marathon: more cushioning, more bounce, more muscle protection. The Vaporfly 4 is lighter, more agile, and more direct. Choose the Vaporfly for 5k, 10k, Half-Marathon, or if you prefer a featherweight shoe for the Marathon.
This is a pure racing shoe. Although the outsole is reinforced, ZoomX foam loses its "pop" (energy return) after a certain amount of time. We estimate its optimal lifespan (peak performance) between 300 and 400 km.
Use it sparingly. Keep it for your key sessions (race-specific, threshold) to get used to the plate. For easy runs, it is too unstable and will wear out prematurely; a Pegasus or Vomero is preferred.
For a "Super Shoe," stability is decent, but it remains a neutral shoe with a high stack and narrow heel. It is not recommended if you have severe overpronation or weak ankles.
The Adidas Adios Pro uses carbon rods (EnergyRods) that follow the metatarsals, offering a slightly more natural feel. The Vaporfly 4 uses a rigid plate (Flyplate) which gives a more pronounced and aggressive "spring" effect. The Nike is also often lighter.
