Our range of electric bikes

Do you enjoy cycling to work, but some mornings are harder than others?

Or when you're out and about, would you like to go a little further and explore new areas? Then the electrically-assisted bicycle (VAE) is for you! Electirc bikes have evolved considerably in recent years, and the market is growing rapidly. Users are gradually changing their views on these bikes. These bikes are stylish and ergonomic, the motor and battery are well integrated, the weight is reasonable, and the range can be as much as 100km in eco mode... so the advantages of EABs are mounting up. Well supported by local and regional authorities, and by the government through subsidies for purchase, the electric bike is now a genuine means of transport, particularly in the urban landscape of our major cities.

How does an electric bike work?

In terms of technology and design, the electrically assisted bicycle is a city bike or traditional mountain bike with a motor (often built into the hubs or crankset). batterie.

An electric bike's assistance only kicks in when you pedal and stops above 25 km/h (otherwise bikes are subject to moped regulations). So you are helped when you make an effort; if you don't pedal, the assistance doesn't kick in. You have to make a continuous effort to benefit from the assistance. This is known as effort amplification rather than assistance.

Most models have 3 levels of battery management: eco, sport or turbo, which allows you to adapt the power supplied by the engine according to the distance to be covered, the type of route, etc. With battery management, you can go from 60km to 90km without any problems and with constant assistance.

To help you manage your battery as effectively as possible, most ECVs are equipped with a small digital display mounted on the handlebars. This little screen is a real on-board computer that tells you your speed, average speed, distance, etc., and some models even incorporate GPS maps. make the most of the assistance provided by your electric bike.

How do I choose an electric bike?

As the market has developed, you'll find a wide choice of electric bikes for women, men or both. Classic city bike, fitness bike, mountain bike, women's electric bike... All types of bikes are now available in electric versions.

You'll even find electric mountain bikes (VTTAE) if you want to go exploring new trails and singles tracks.

An electric bike for everyone

Electric bikes with a high-torque motor and increased battery capacity. These bikes will indeed be heavy, but they will be able to take you further, for longer on your journeys. Other electric bikes have a motor with less torque and a smaller battery to save weight and look relatively similar to a fitness bike. They will be ideal for those looking for the same sensations as with a traditional bike while still having assistance for their journeys.

Women's electric bike

The brands are based on the οbservatiοn that women generally have "shorter upper bodies and arms than a man and longer legs ". Women's bikes should therefore have a stronger top tube and a higher seat height.

This type of pοsitiοn, which is very stable, is perfect for beginners and long-distance cycling, but if you want a more aerodynamic pοsitiοn for the race, it becomes more complicated as the bike is not designed for this.

This is often the philosophy of certain brands, particularly in the entry-level range.

The right peripherals for a woman's electric bike

The brands have found that the differences between men and women are not enough to necessitate different frames, as it is only the smallest and largest sizes that have specific needs.

On the other hand, key peripherals (saddles, seat, handlebars, cranks) are changed to prepare a women's electric bike that meets women's needs. The manufacturers therefore prepare the same frame in a wider range of sizes (adding S, XS and XXS, as women are often a little smaller) with specific peripherals to differentiate the for women.

The biggest brands of electric bikes

On our websiteAlltricks you will find theelectric bikethat's right for you from among the best brands and many models: Haibike, Trek, Smart, Lombardo ...

Electric Bikes - FAQ

How does an electric bike work?

An electric bike works by combining the cyclist's muscle power with that of an electric motor. This motor is powered by a rechargeable battery usually located on the frame. When the cyclist pedals, the pedaling sensor detects their effort and activates the motor, which provides assistance to the movement. This assistance can vary in intensity depending on the setting chosen by the cyclist, allowing them to travel longer distances or climb steeper slopes with less effort.

What is the maximum speed of an electric bike?

The maximum speed of an electric bike depends on several factors, including the motor's power, the type of battery, and local regulations. In France, the speed limit for an electric bike is 25 km/h. Some models may also have higher speed limits, but these speeds are often regulated by law. If the electrically assisted bicycle (EAB) exceeds this speed, it will be considered a moped in the eyes of the law.

Do electric bikes require a license or insurance?

In many countries, electric bikes do not require a specific driver's license or insurance as long as they comply with local regulations regarding motor power and maximum speed. However, it is recommended to check local laws regarding the use of electric bikes to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

How long does it take to charge an electric bike battery?

The charging time for an electric bike battery varies depending on its capacity and the type of charger used. On average, a full charge can take between 3 and 6 hours. However, some fast chargers can reduce this time to less than 2 hours. It is recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions to optimize the battery's lifespan and avoid overcharging.

What is the average range of an electric bike?

The average range of an electric bike depends on several factors such as battery capacity, the level of assistance used, terrain, and the cyclist's weight. Generally, electric bikes have a range of between 40 and 100 kilometers on a single charge. Note that this range can vary, and it is recommended to consult the manufacturer's specifications for more precise estimates.

How do you maintain an electric bike?

Maintaining an electric bike is similar to maintaining a traditional bike but requires additional attention to the electrical components. The bike should be cleaned regularly to prevent the accumulation of salt and debris, the chain and gears should be lubricated, and the tire pressure should be checked. It is also important to monitor the battery's condition and charge it regularly according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Periodic inspections by a professional can also help detect and resolve any potential issues.

How much does an average electric bike weigh?

The average weight of an electric bike varies depending on its size, design, and the components used. Generally, an electric bike can weigh between 20 and 30 kilograms, but some lighter models can go down to 15 kilograms, and other more robust models can go up to 35 kilograms. The weight of the bike can impact its maneuverability and transport.

How do you choose the right frame size for an electric bike?

Choosing the right frame size for an electric bike is essential to ensure optimal comfort and an appropriate riding position. It is recommended to consult a professional in a bike shop for personalized advice on frame sizing. The height of the crotch, the length of the legs, and the reach of the arms should be taken into account to find the appropriate frame size. A frame that is too small or too large can lead to comfort and maneuverability issues.

What accessories are recommended for an electric bike?

Some recommended accessories for an electric bike include mudguards to protect against splashes, racks for carrying additional items, lights for better visibility, locks for security, and storage bags for personal belongings. Accessories can vary depending on the individual needs of the cyclist and the intended use of the bike.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of electric bikes compared to cars?

The advantages of electric bikes compared to cars include a lower carbon footprint, reduced operating costs, better physical health, and more flexible urban mobility. However, the disadvantages may include limited range, charging limitations, unfavorable weather conditions, and less protection in the event of road accidents.

Are electric bikes more expensive to maintain than traditional bikes?

In general, electric bikes may be slightly more expensive to maintain than traditional bikes due to the additional electrical components such as the battery and motor. However, maintenance costs can vary depending on the quality of the components and the frequency of use of the bike.

What is the average lifespan of an electric bike battery?

The average lifespan of an electric bike battery depends on several factors, including the quality of the battery, the frequency of charging, storage conditions, and the use of the bike. Generally, a good quality battery can last between 3 and 5 years or up to about 1000 charge cycles before needing replacement.

What are the most reliable electric bike brands?

There are many reputable brands in the electric bike market, each offering its own characteristics and advantages. Some of the most reliable and popular brands include Cube, Haibike, Cannondale, Winora, and Bicyklet. However, the choice of brand often depends on the personal preferences of the cyclist, the budget, and specific riding needs.
