A new and improved version of a model beloved by trail riders, bikepackers, and gravel enthusiasts. Ergolace 2 features an updated last that’s wider in the metatarsal area, offering more freedom for your toes and an overall roomier fit that boosts comfort during long days on the bike—or those long minutes spent pushing it. The right choice for any off-road adventure—from daily exploration to long-distance bikepacking trips, and even e-MTB expeditions in the backcountry—Ergolace returns more refined than ever.
LESS MATERIAL, MORE PROTECTION: The upper is made of a lightweight, breathable ripstop fabric, eliminating all excess material and unnecessary bulk, which helps the shoe dry quickly and feel lighter. Large PU-laminated panels add protection and durability, while the forefoot is further reinforced to protect the toes from rocks and roots. The practical, foot-hugging sock-like construction, made from perforated Airprene fabric, offers more comfort than a traditional tongue-based design because there are fewer layers of material, resulting in a fit without pressure points. Additionally, the perforated Airprene fabric allows moisture vapor to escape for better breathability and shoes that dry faster after wet rides.
THE SAME SUPPORT, EVEN FASTER: The closure system is ergonomic and asymmetrical so as not to interfere with the bike’s drivetrain. Proven worldwide on the original Ergolace, the latest version of the lacing system keeps the foot securely in place and stable even under the most extreme riding conditions. The quick-lace system is easy to lock and unlock, even while riding, for convenient adjustment.
NEW X2: EVEN GREATER GRIP: The new X2 outsole provides the type of shoe-to-pedal interface you need to ride fast on trails and gravel, combining a high-grip Vibram Megagrip rubber compound with a specific zonal lug pattern. The midfoot area features lower, more uniform lugs to improve mechanical grip with the pedals; the pedal pins fit more securely into the grooves of the outsole, locking the shoe in place. To improve traction on the ground during push-walk sections, we drew inspiration from other outdoor disciplines to develop an aggressive lug pattern under the heel and toes—areas where the outsole does not interact with the pedal. There, the lugs are taller and more widely spaced to better grip the ground. This clipless version features a specialized Ergolace nylon plate, with a shape optimized for walking. It is stiffer than the flat version for better power transfer throughout the entire pedaling cycle, thereby improving pedaling efficiency.
