You like to ride your bike to work, but some mornings are more difficult than others? Or when you go for a ride, would you like to go a little further and explore new areas? Then the electrically assisted bicycle (EAB) is for you! Electric bikes have evolved a lot in the last few years and it is a growing market. Users are slowly changing their views on these bikes. These bikes are designed and ergonomic, the motor and the battery are well integrated, the weight remains reasonable, the autonomy can go up to 100km in eco mode... the advantages accumulate for the EAB. Well supported by the municipalities, departments and by the State thanks to subsidies for the purchase, the electric bicycle is today a real means of transport in particular in the urban landscape of our big cities.
In terms of technology and design, an electric bike is a traditional city bike or mountain bike with a motor (often built into the hubs or pedals) and a battery. The assistance of an electric bike is triggered only when you pedal and stops beyond 25 km/h (otherwise the bikes are subject to the regulation of mopeds). Thus you are helped when you make an effort, if you do not pedal, the assistance does not start. You have to make a continuous effort to benefit from the assistance. We therefore speak of amplification of effort rather than assistance. On most models you have 3 levels of battery management: eco, sport or turbo which allows you to adapt the power provided by the engine according to the distance to be covered, the type of course,... Thus with the battery management you make from 60km to 90km without problems with a constant assistance. To better manage your battery, the majority of the VAE are equipped with a small digital screen fixed on the handlebar. This small screen is a real on-board computer which also indicates the speed, the average, the distance,... and some models even integrate GPS maps to make the best use of the assistance of your electric bike.
As the market has developed, you will find a large choice of electric bikes for women or for men or for both. Classic city bike, fitness bike, mountain bike, women's electric bike... All types of bikes are now available in electric version. You will even find electric mountain bikes (e-MTB) if you want to explore new trails and singles tracks.
Electric bicycles with a motor with significant torque and an increased battery capacity. These bikes will indeed be heavy, but they will be able to take you farther and longer on your trips. Other electric bikes have a motor with less torque and a smaller battery to save weight and look relatively similar to a muscle bike. They will be ideal for those who are looking for the same sensations as a traditional bike while having an assistance for their trips.
The brands are based on the observation that women generally have a "fuller upper body and arms than a man and longer legs". Women's bicycles should therefore have a heavier top tube and a more upturned body. This type of pοsitiοn, very stable, is perfect for beginners and long distance riding but if you want to go for a more aerated pοsitiοn for competition, it becomes more complicated as the bike is not designed for that. This is the philosophy of some brands, especially on the entry level.
Brands have found that the differences between men and women are not enough to require different frames, as it is only the smaller and larger sizes that have specific needs. On the other hand, key peripherals (saddles, seat, handlebars, cranks) are changed in order to prepare a women's electric bike that meets the needs of women. The manufacturers therefore prepare the same frame with a wider range of sizes (adding S, XS and XXS, as women are often a bit smaller) with specific peripherals to differentiate the women's bike models.
