How to change your disc brake pads?
Quite simple, this operation is a guarantee of safety. Change your Road or MTB brake pads will prevent damage to your discs. Remove the wheel from the bike.
Required tools : BTR key of 5 / Nose pliers or BTR wrench / Torx TX25 wrench / Freewheel demounter or external bottom bracket bearings
Step 1
Remove the screw or pin that holds the pads in place in the caliper with the appropriate tool, depending on the brake model.
Step 2
Remove the pads (depending on the model, from the top or bottom).
Step 3
Clean the inside of the caliper with a cleaning spray can. Clean the inserts with sandpaper, or change them.
Step 4
If necessary, push the pistons back into the caliper with a screwdriver to save space..
Step 5
Replace the pads, remembering their return spring in the form of a lamella.
Step 6
Refasten the screw or pin that holds them in place and brake several times to remove the play.
Step 7
Degrease the disc and check its tightness on the hub.
Step 7
Reassemble the wheel and rotate it after operating the lever. If the disc is continuously rubbing, adjust the centering of the brake caliper. If it rubs intermittently, try to reveal it with a greased wrench, by a small twist.
