In collaboration with world-class downhill racers, Ergon has created the perfect saddle for modern downhill racing.
The requirements of the world's best racers were specific: super-compact with maximum tire clearance, anti-friction zones and 360° padding for optimal leg protection and guidance.
TheErgon SM Downhill Comp achieves all these goals and more! The saddle design naturally follows the inclined position of the typical DH saddle, and for climbing we've comfortably padded the saddle.

The Ergon SM Downhill achieves all this and more! The saddle design naturally follows the sloping position of the typical DH saddle, and for climbing, we've comfortably padded the seat.

On difficult terrain and when jumping, total freedom of movement on the saddle is essential. We designed the SM Downhill to be minimalist and compact (23.6 x 12 cm). This improves control, speed and safety for the rider.

The SM Downhill Comp's 360° edge padding promotes the best possible leg guidance for controlling the bike and offers maximum protection. Unpleasant bruises on the inside of the legs are reduced by the padding.

Although downhill riders rarely sit on the SM Downhill, we've added just the right amount of padding to ensure the necessary comfort during short seat transfers.

The rear of the SM Downhill is short and flat to leave enough room for the tire when the rear suspension is fully compressed. Even on small 29er frames with a low seat position, the saddle recess prevents the tire from making contact with the saddle.

One size fits all. The SM Downhill is unlike any other Ergon saddle. It's not designed for extended sitting, but rather for perfect bike control on the racetrack and in the air. Different widths and gender-specific cut-outs are not necessary.
