MTB front derailleur, how to choose it?

The front derailleur is part of the bicycle transmission parts. It fits into a complete group. The front derailleur is used to allow chain wheel shifts when using a transmission with 2 or 3 chain rings. It's attached to the seat tube thanks to a clamp. Single-speed MTB transmissions do not use a front derailleur.
Two brands share mountain bike equipment: Shimano and SRAM. Choose your derailleur according to the brand of your group and the number of gears you want to have in your transmission.

The MTB front derailleur is connected to the control lever by a cable. The control lever can take the form of a shifter or rotating handle and makes gear shifting very easy.

Shimano or SRAM front derailleur

The choice between one or the other brand is made according to the group present on your bike. If you're already in Shimano XT on your MTB, then opt for a front derailleur of the same range. You can also make an upgrade and choose a Shimano XTR front derailleur for your mountain bike.
