MTB transmission: a major part of your bike
Your MTB transmission is an essential component that, associated with the brakes, constitutes the groupset of your bike. On the equipment of the MTB, two brands share the market: Shimano and SRAM. The MTB transmission thus includes the controls on the handlebars, the front and rear derailleurs, the chain, the pedal, the cogset and the cables and casings that connect the controls to the 2 derailleurs.
Today, the single-plate transmission is developing and thus the front derailleur disappears. SRAM and Shimano offer different versions of their flagship groupset (XT and XTR at Shimano and Eagle and XX1 at Sram) in single chainring.
MTB transmission at the heart of your practice
Depending on your discipline, you won't have the same transmission needs. The choice of a transmission impacted notably the staggering speeds that won't be the same between a 3x9 speeds and a 1x11v transmission. So if you do downhill, opt for a solid transmission and a mono-chainring and 3x9 speeds.
