Swimrun, a combination of swimming and running
Swimrun is a popular discipline. It combines open water swimming and trail running.
Swimrun originated in Sweden and is mainly practised in pairs. To practise this sport, you need a swimrun suit that meets the sport's specific requirements, i.e. allowing you to alternate swimming and running phases in the same suit without being hampered in one of the 2 disciplines.
Today, swimrun is growing and new races have been created every year since the discipline was created with the Otillo in Sweden.
How do you choose a swimrun suit?
Swimrun wetsuits come in both short (shorty) and long versions, but most athletes prefer the short version. Unlike a classic triathlon wetsuit, a swimrun wetsuit is designed for use outside the water.
As well as providing good flotation and regulating body heat, the wetsuit must be comfortable to wear during the race, with a special cut and reinforcements on the joints. The central opening on the torso also allows the suit to be opened when running, so that you don't get too hot, for example.
