How to choose your running shoe size?
To feel comfortable in your shoes and enjoy every training session and/or race, it is essential to choose the right size of running shoes. You have probably already experienced the feeling of being too tight in your shoes or a shoe that is too big and does not hold your foot properly.
Here is our guide to help you choose the right size for your running shoes.
1: Measure your foot
To choose the right running shoes, you need to know the length of your foot and measure it. This step may seem complex. It is actually very simple.
The aim is to measure the length of your foot from the tip of your heel to the end of your longest toe:
- Place a sheet of paper on the floor against a wall.. A standard A4 sheet will do.
- Stand against the wall, placing the heel of your foot (the "stronger" one) against it and on the sheet. Your heel and the sheet of paper should be perfectly stuck against the wall.
- Make a mark on the sheet, at the end of your longest toe with a pencil.
- Measure the distance between the line you drew and the end of the sheet that was placed against the wall: you get the length of your foot.
2: Allow for a margin
You have probably already noticed that during physical effort, your feet tend to swell.
By adding 0.5 to 1 cm to your shoe size, you will reduce its risk and be more comfortable in your shoes. This is often ½ to 1 extra size.
Alltricks tips:
- Extra 0.5 cm: you ride less than 20 km per ride.
- Extra 1 cm: you travel more than 20 km during an outing.
3: Choosing your running shoe with your increased foot size
