How to maintain a KS i900 / i900R seatpost?
Whatever your favourite discipline, the usefulness of a telescopic seatpost is no longer in question. However, to enjoy this advantage for a long time, think about regular maintenance. Here's how to do it for KS i900 / i900R seatposts.
1/ Required tools
Degreaser, Soft cloth, Small flat screwdriver, Socket spanner 11, Grease.
2/ Unscrew the nut
Unscrew the nut on the telescopic seat post using a socket or 11 mm pipe spanner and remove the washer.
3/ Unscrew the ring
Unscrew the upper ring by hand.
4/ Remove the body
Then remove the plunger body with a sharp pull.
5/ Remove the keys
Remove the 3 keys carefully with a small screwdriver.
6/ Remove the ring
Remove the guide ring.
7/ Clean the body
Clean the tube body and the plunger with a degreasing spray and a cloth.
8/ Degrease all the components
Degrease also all the elements: top ring, keys...
9/ Grease all the components
Then grease all the components by applying a thick layer of lubricant to them.
10/ Put it back together
Last but not least, reassemble the whole thing (body and plunger), making sure that the keys are correctly aligned with the grooves provided for this purpose on the black part. Don't force it during this operation, as you risk damaging everything! But double-check the alignments, and you will find the solution for an easy reassembly!
