Adidas was created by Adolf Dassler on 18 August 1949 with the main objective of improving the performance. The term adidas comes from the contraction of his nickname 'Adi' and the first syllable of his surname 'Das'. It was during the 1936 Berlin Olympics that adidas, or rather, Dassler Shoes at the time, experienced a dazzling success thanks to Jesse Owens.
