Description
Designed for classic mountaineering, the SUMMIT ice axe offers an excellent price/performance ratio. Lightweight, yet offering good anchoring performance at the head and tip, and curved to provide the necessary clearance for steep and icy use, it can be used as a cane or ramp axe as well as a traction axe for short steep passages.
DETAILS
- Lightweight: lightweight ice axe that retains head weight for good anchoring power.
- Handle ergonomics:
- the upper part of the handle is curved to provide good clearance when climbing,
- the lower part is straighter and ensures effective penetration of the snow. - Blade and tip made of hot forged steel, ensuring solid anchoring:
- thin blade (3 mm) and toothed at the tip, ensuring good anchoring quality in hard snow and ice,
- thicker blade in the center to promote grip in soft snow.
- teeth in the upper part of the blade strengthen the hold of the axe when used as a pick-axe,
- robust stainless steel tip for very good penetration in hard snow and when used as a pick-axe. - High resistance and practical aspects:
- very resistant steel shaft with a comfortable support surface and edge design for efficient step cutting,
- sloping shaft to guide the axe correctly in the snow (for use as a pole),
- head and tip equipped with holes for a carabiner or strap,
- high quality aluminum shaft (7075 aluminum used in aeronautics), with anodized finish for excellent protection,
- shaft machined from the mass to create a grip for better handling - Ice axe compatible with LINKIN hand strap.
