Description

For Campagnolo, the “Shamal” project has always represented accepting the challenges of the future. Created in 1992, it was the first complete wheel to use the concept of a high profile, an aerodynamic design that was absolutely revolutionary at the time and immediately successful.

Its innovative element consists in the wheel design called Dual Profile. A different modular profile perfected in the wind tunnel and tested on the road that - combined with hubs with differentiated flanges - ensures the use of shorter spokes, to the advantage of overall rigidity without forgoing comfort for the rider when pedalling.

As in previous models, the new Shamal - Dual Profile wheels also adopt fibre with C-LUX finish, a solution that, when transferred on the road, ensures optimal rideability in all conditions, even with wide tires, which allow their use on gravel too.

The spirit of the new Campagnolo Shamal wheels is also evident in the 2-Way Fit system. Riders can choose the classic clincher and inner tube solution or the tubeless solution, the latter being made possible by the absence of holes for spoke nipples on the inside of the rim, which makes the use of sealing tape unnecessary.

The spokes are arranged according to the G3 lacing geometry, an iconic patented system designed by Campagnolo which provides riders with the perfect tensioning balance and the best rigidity for the transfer of power generated by pedals.

The smoothness of the new Campagnolo Shamal wheels has been entrusted to their aluminium hubs built according to the cup&cone system, which allows for easy maintenance of the bearings. Compared to the previous model, the adoption of new materials ensures a weight reduction of over one hundred grams, thus reaching a total weight of 1,480 grams.

The new Shamal - Dual Profile wheels are the ideal solution for riders seeking versatility in wheels capable of performing in different environments, manufactured by using methods and technologies inspired by higher-end models.

The C23 rim is perfect for pairing with 28+mm tires, making it a complete Road/All-rounder wheel.

Technologies:

G3 spoke geometry: Campagnolo’s iconic G3 geometry challenges the conventional configuration of wheel spokes on racing bikes. Groups of three parallel straight-pull spokes are in fact arranged in a ratio of 2:1.
N3W: N3W stand for NEXT 3 WAYS, a patented standard for a freewheel body engineered to house 11-, 12- and 13-speed cassettes with 9-, 10- and 11-tooth starting sprockets that is still compatible with older 9- and 10-speed cassettes.
