The Wind 42s have been designed with the optimum balance between performance and comfort in mind, to create a versatile product with smooth handling. The new Wind wheels are not only suitable for on-road use, but also for light off-road use (ASTM category 2), offering the pleasure of pedaling even off busy roads. This project responds to the various variations that are becoming increasingly important in road bike use.
The Wind 42s inherit numerous Fulcrum technologies from the Speed range, the top-of-the-range road wheels in terms of performance, to ensure a superior riding feel to that of the previous generation.
Handling is improved by up to 22% and responsiveness by up to 10%* on this versatile, comfortable product for the modern cyclist.
Among the most noteworthy aspects is the height of the rims, which increases to 42 mm with a 23 mm rim base, while the totally new graphics follow the new Form Function Fulcrum stylistic canons, with a sleek yet sophisticated design that integrates all the product's technical information thanks to the new iconography
Product advantages
- 2-Way Fit™ profile for tubeless and classic tires.
Tubeless technology, adopted on cars and then motorcycles, is gaining a foothold in cycling. After the beginnings in off-road cycling, the time has come for the road. We've developed 2-Way Fit™ technology, which also ensures perfect compatibility of our tubeless rims with traditional tires and tubes. 2-Way Fit™ wheels are therefore versatile and able to tackle any situation.
Special machining of the valve area enables the tube to be mounted with great precision, guaranteeing its stability inside the tire. The valve for tubeless tires can also be fitted without any problem, eliminating any air leakage due to uncertain positioning.
- What is Two-to-One™? A simple and effective system, born thanks to the talent of Fulcrum® technicians and the scrupulous observation of the results of tests carried out daily on wheels.
In fact, thanks to these tests, we have been able to understand that the forces, which act on the sides of the wheel and therefore on the spokes, are extremely different from each other; but not only that, the differences are obvious and important also between the front and rear wheel. In fact, the front wheel remains stable even when braking the disc on the left, whereas the rear wheel, in addition to making room for the cassette, has to compensate for the pull of the force on the side of the chain.
- For our products, the key word is traceability. When you find a small label affixed to Fulcrum® components, don't remove it. It has been expressly affixed to guarantee that, should a production batch be found to be defective, your component or wheel can be traced.
All because, true to its mission, Fulcrum® demands absolute perfection for its products and safety for its customers.
- Anti-Rotation System™: This new system increases spoke performance to a previously unknown level.
Fulcrum® engineers started from scratch to design the spoke/hub interface to create a coupling system capable of keeping spokes always in the same position. In this way, the spokes of Fulcrum® wheels do not rotate, thus avoiding losing tension during use and compromising the aerodynamic penetration so sought-after.
- For the construction of Fulcrum® all-carbon rims, combinations of different types of fiber, including unidirectional and the famous 90-degree 3K that equips our top-of-the-range models, have been designed in the laboratory.
Their use has led to the development of a special HTG ("High transition grade") resin, which has a glass transition threshold at higher temperatures than any other fiber used in the cycling industry.
It delivers incomparable braking performance.
- Theabsence of holes in the top wall means a homogeneous product at all levels, free from critical stress points.
The benefits are felt immediately: lower weight, longer rim life, greater resistance to stress, greater spoke tensioning capability and superior stiffness, i.e. greater responsiveness and acceleration.
