Continuing the quest for goggle perfection, the Aphotic II features a few small changes from our best-selling Aphotic of the last decade.

The second generation has added a ratchet on the strap, making adjustments even easier. The silicone strap also features ridges for better fit and security.

On race day, your most important piece of equipment will probably be your goggles. Many people take it for granted, but without it, all your preparation and training can be wasted. Now is the time to take your goggles seriously and understand what you need on race day.

Wouldn't it be great if most events started in the middle of the day, when the sun is high in the sky, everyone's warm and there's plenty of light? Unfortunately, 7 a.m. starts are not uncommon for triathlons due to the length of the event and the timing of road closures.

• Aphotic, use photochromatic technology to naturally darken or lighten depending on the environment and conditions, so natural you won't even notice during the race. Self-adjusting lenses provide a comfortable field of vision and support your stroke.
• Photochromic lenses offer clarity and help you avoid obstacles and other swimmers, whether you're swimming towards the sun or with your back to it.
• This amazing lens is perfectly calibrated and goes from light to dark in just 160 seconds.
• Special patented photochromatic dyes activate the lenses, i.e. darken them, when exposed to the sun's ultraviolet light. When the UV rays fade, the lens returns to its original position. Tint levels adjust to changing light conditions, giving you the right tint at the right time.
• Silicone and TPR densities are matched to create the perfect fit for your face. To enjoy swimming, you need a comfortable fit and the ability to see as much as possible while blocking out as much light as possible when the sun is high and the water has the best reflections.
