An ultra-compressible 3-strand Z-Pole with FlickLock® adjustment, the Black Diamond Distance FLZ is an excellent choice for long hikes, steep approaches, river crossings... but can also be used as a stake for a tarpaulin shelter. Now with reinforced strand joints and our new SlideLock technology, the Distance FLZ is a three-season pole designed to be effective in the mountains

Cone deployment technology, inspired by our avalanche probe expertise, is an essential component of the robustness and deployment speed of our Z-Poles. Simply grasp the handle and the top strand of the pole and pull in opposite directions. The pole snaps into place and locks into place. Each quick-release cone guides one strand of the stick into place, then secures the joint when the stick is locked. Flexible protective end caps cover the stick's central Kevlar® cord when folded
