Description

If you're looking for lightweight wheels for Gravel and XC, designed to go fast and last forever, the Crest MK4 aluminium wheels are the wheels for you.

"Crest" is the name Stan gave to one of his original rims, and today it belongs to one of the most advanced rims around. Constructed from 6069 alloy and featuring reinforced spoking and a welded joint, the 25mm wide Crest MK4 rim is designed to withstand both the high pressures of 40mm gravel tyres and the lower pressures of 2.3" mountain bike tyres. The asymmetrical design of the Crest MK4 rim improves spoke angle to create a stronger wheel, while offering the easiest to inflate and most reliable tubeless joint found only on Stan's patented Bead Socket Technology rims. Built for people who ride, by people who ride, the Crest MK4 wheelset builds on the proven strength of traditional J-bend spokes. As part of Stan's commitment to making easy-to-maintain wheels that a rider can own for many years, all MK4 series wheels that have the same diameter share a single, very common spoke length. The front, rear and both sides all use the same length, making it easy to replace damaged spokes.

A legendary rim deserves a legendary hub, and the Crest MK4's M-pulse hubs deliver. Designed in partnership with Project321, and CNC machined in their Bend, Oregon workshop, M-pulse freehubs use an innovative neodymium magnetic pawl design that delivers incredibly positive and reliable engagement with virtually no friction. Unlike traditional pawls and springs that create unnecessary friction when not engaged, the M-pulse hub's magnetic pawls are most powerful when engaged and minimise resistance when disengaged. Multiple teeth on the pawls distribute the load to further increase strength and durability, while a full set of Enduro bearings and a 17mm 7075 alloy axle allow the M-pulse to withstand more than twice the force of Stan's previous hub designs. The shielded design of M-pulse hubs also protects the bearings from direct exposure to the elements for an even longer life. But the real beauty of M-pulse hubs is their low rolling resistance and speed of engagement. An easily adjustable bearing preload function allows M-pulse hubs to be adjusted quickly and simply to reduce friction and resistance. All this in a hub that engages with just 1.66° of rotation for instant acceleration.
