Description

Weighing just 1340g for the pair, the Mavic Crossmax SL Ultimate wheel is the dream of all cross-country racers with one thing in mind: performance. Developed in partnership with professional riders looking for a competitive advantage in the World Cup or the Olympic Games, it uses a 29'' (340g) full carbon rim, which allows rapid acceleration and climbing, without compromise on stiffness and durability. The special Adaptive Lay Up technique (specific draping) allows Mavic to develop carbon rims using less material between the spokes. The spoke holes are reinforced with strategically placed layers of carbon, reducing weight without compromising stiffness and strength. A lighter rim means faster acceleration, more efficient climbing and better responsiveness. The outer carbon layer benefits from Mavic's UD² design, which gives it a very special visual identity and reinforces its durability.

Extensive field testing, conducted with Mavic's professional athletes, has enabled Mavic engineers to identify the most suitable internal width for fast and precise steering and optimal grip on fast racing tracks: 25 mm . For more technical terrain, some prefer a 30mm width, which offers better maneuverability. Mavic therefore makes both options available. It's up to you to choose, and, if you wish, to combine the two! For example, fit a Crossmax SL Ultimate 25 in the rear to improve your acceleration and efficiency, and a Crossmax SL Ultimate 30 in the front to gain confidence and control on difficult single tracks. The carbon rim is equipped with 24 straight butted spokes (same spoke length everywhere), crossed by two for optimal power transfer and better vertical flexibility. The lighter Infinity hub platform helps optimize lateral stiffness, while the lacing maximizes power transfer. The Instant Drive 360 freewheel body guarantees, with its double ratchet system, quick engagement to accelerate more efficiently when exiting corners.
