Road Bike Wheels
The bike wheel, essential element of the bike, both for performance and safety, consists of a hub, central element containing the bearings, connected to the rim by spokes.
The wheel is attached to the fork of the frame by a quick release.
There is a wide variety of rims, spokes (the number is variable) and hubs, which explains the large number of possible wheel configurations.
Road bike wheels usually have a diameter of 700mm but there are also with a diameter of 650mm (650b). Depending on the type of tire you want to use, there are three types of wheels:
Tubetype wheels for tires with inner tube
Tubular wheels for tubular tires
Tubeless wheels for tubeless tires
The materials used are most often aluminum or carbon. The rear wheels are equipped with freewheel body. Rims offer three types of profiles: low, medium or high.
The criteria for the purchase of a wheel are the weight, (the carbon wheels being much lighter than the aluminum wheels), the rigidity, the aerodynamics and the price which will be very variable according to the expected performances of the wheel.
A rider will look for the best possible versatility for his wheels with low weight, high rigidity and the best possible aerodynamics.
Whatever your ride, find the wheel that suits you on Alltricks.com !
