Orbea, the Basque spirit

The emblematic brand of Spanish cycling, Orbea took root in the Basque Country in the 1930s.

It is part of the history of Spanish cycling, having equipped several athletes and teams with bicycles, both on the road and in mountain biking. We can mention the mythical Euskatel-Euskadi, which for 20 years has been the driving force behind some of the most beautiful stage races when the road climbed and turned orange. Today Orbea still accompanies Euskatel-Euskadi in the Continental Pro. In mountain biking, Orbea is not to be outdone, as the Spanish brand was at Julien Absalon's side during his Olympic title in Beijing in 2008, for example.

Orbea Bike Range

Orbea now covers all categories of cycling with a fairly wide range. In mountain biking, several models have proved their worth and are very well known (Alma, Occam, Oiz, Rallon). On the Road and Gravel, Orbea's flagship models are the Orca, the Avant and the Terra. Finally, the brand also offers city bikes with the Kemen range of electric bikes.

Where are Orbea bicycles manufactured?

Orbea was born in the Basque Country, specifically in Mallabia, a few kilometers away from Bilbao. The company still manufactures some of the bicycles there. They also invested in a factory in Portugal. Since 2015, Orbea no longer manufactures bicycles in China, and all the production is now divided between Spain and Portugal.

How do you know the size of your Orbea bike?

To choose the size of your Orbea bike, we invite you to check the corresponding size guide in the product sheet of the bike. Developed by the Alltricks team according to the specific standards of Orbea bikes, it indicates for each frame size, the corresponding rider's height. Each of the corresponding sizes is based on the geometry of the bike, which may vary within the same brand.

I am between 2 sizes, what should I do? In this case, we recommend:

Choose the smaller frame size if you intend to use your bike in a performance-oriented way.
KChoose a larger frame size if you want to focus on comfort.

Which Orbea to buy?

Obrea offers a wide range of bikes covering the three main disciplines: road, mountain and gravel.

In road cycling, its flagship model is the Orbea Orca.
In mountain bike, Orbea offers several popular models, such as the Occam for trail, the OIZ and ALMA for XC.
The Orbea Terra is the new Gravel model from the Basque brand.

Which Orbea Alma to buy?

The Orbea Alma is the iconic model of the brand's mountain bike range. This bike is ideal for XC and/or marathon riders. It stands out for its agility and responsiveness. The Orbea Alma M series consists of mountain bikes with a carbon frame. The top of the range are the bikes with OMX carbon frames (Alma M-LTD, M-Team and M-Pro). Next are the OMR carbon frames (Alma M25, M30 M50). The most affordable versions are those with aluminum frames, the Orbea Alma H (Alma H10, H20 and H30).

What does Orbea mean?

Orbea is the name of the brothers (Orbea Murua) who founded the company Orbea Hermanos in the 19th century. Initially, Orbea manufactured weapons (revolvers, pistols and cartridges). At the end of the 1930s, the company gradually abandoned this activity and diversified. In the 1960s, Orbea began to specialize in the manufacture of bicycles.
