This year, Magura brings back a well-known name for long-time riders, the Louise. A flagship model of the brand in the 2000s, they make their big return to the MTB market in spring 2026 with a fully modernized platform. Already seen in 2025 on some first-mount bikes, the Louise Elite are now available retail since spring 2026. Nicolas from the Alltricks staff in Bouc-Bel-Air had the chance to test them in preview.
Technical specifications

- Discs: compatible with all Magura 2.0 mm discs, including the new MDR-S 2.0, which improves braking while limiting noise.
- Weight: about 250 g without disc.
Magura Louise Elite brakes on the trail
From the first wheel turns, the Magura Louise Elite reassure. You immediately find the brand’s DNA, with braking that is powerful, progressive, and above all very easy to modulate.
Used to more direct brakes, I needed a little time to adapt. But once in hand, I really liked the more progressive feel.
The power is clearly there thanks to the 4-piston caliper. On enduro or all-mountain rides, the Louise Elite offer a sharp bite as soon as you pull the lever, while maintaining excellent modulation. You keep control, even in technical sections or on slippery terrain.
On the consistency side, the work on the caliper’s stiffness is noticeable. Even during long descents, the brake remains stable, without noticeable contact point shifts or loss of power.
The Carbotecture lever, for its part, naturally fits your fingers. Light, ergonomic, and tool-free adjustable, it contributes to a pleasant and effective setup for daily use.
Compatibility and installation
Good news, Magura clearly thought about riders who like things fast… even in the workshop.
The EASY LINK system is a game changer, you connect/disconnect the hose in seconds, without tools, without bleeding, I love it! Whether it’s to install your brake, route an internal hose, or dismantle the bike for a trip, everything becomes much simpler.
On the compatibility side:
- MT series pads → easy to find, wide choice depending on your riding
- 2.0 mm discs → if your current setup is 1.8 mm, you’ll need to plan for a change
- The installation is overall accessible, although a precise caliper adjustment will be necessary for a perfectly silent setup.
In summary it’s fast, practical, efficient, exactly what you expect in 2026.
