The Novablast range from Asics has established itself over the years as a true must-have reference for runners looking for a daily training shoe, capable of combining excellent cushioning with real dynamism. With the arrival of the Asics Novablast 6, the Japanese brand promises to push even further the limits of versatility and energy return. This new iteration is notably based on a reworked geometry and the integration of the new FF Turbo² foam technology in the forefoot. The stated goal? To maximize propulsion while maintaining the lightness that made the franchise phenomenally successful from the start. But how do these promises really hold up once the shoe is put to the test on asphalt and trails? To find out for sure and give you a completely transparent opinion, we entrusted this highly anticipated model to Sophie, a member of the Alltricks staff and a regular runner. Having already worn the previous version over many kilometers, she was the ideal person to objectively assess the evolutions of this sixth edition. Between urban pavement and forest trails, here is her detailed feedback.

Design and first impressions: a lively colorway and confirmed lightness
When I opened the box of these new Asics for the very first time, my eyes were immediately drawn to the care given to the overall aesthetics of the pair. Physical contact instantly confirmed my expectations on a crucial point. Already owning the Novablast 5, I found them just as light. It's a real relief and an excellent starting point, because I particularly enjoy running with models that know how to be forgotten during the run. Visually, the charm worked immediately and I immediately liked the pale pink colorway. The touch of apple green on the sole and forefoot brings some pep to the shoe while remaining easy to match with different sports outfits.
Focusing on the technical design of the upper and the brand's message, I immediately noticed the promises were visible to the naked eye. Yes, you can see the mention of the FF Turbo² foam in the forefoot. The drop is also different and gives the impression of a more dynamic shoe while keeping flexibility. I like that the color is discreet enough to go with all sportswear. The fuchsia, which is found on the lace loops and the Asics logo on the side, adds color, and the apple green on the toe gives a bit more pep. I find the design sober but really very pretty, which does not spoil the pleasure of putting them on.
Even before taking my first steps, my checklist was very clear regarding my daily needs: I expect a very comfortable shoe, able to accompany me on all kinds of outings, from classic training to long runs of about 15 km. I hope it will give me a feeling of bounce and propulsion while remaining very light. Reassured by this excellent first visual and tactile impression, I had absolutely no doubts or questions before lacing them up. No, none at all, I was just eager to go run.
Handling and Fit: Immediate Comfort and Reassuring Support
The decisive moment of the first try-on is often very telling of what’s to come, and the reception given by this model was more than positive. As soon as I put them on, I found them comfortable. I didn’t feel any pressure points and my foot was immediately well settled. It’s a truly pleasant feeling to feel right away like you’re in a cozy slipper, without any misplaced seam that could ruin the joy of running.
On the lacing system side, the design is very well thought out to make the runner’s life easier. The lacing is easy to adjust and holds the foot well without tightness. The adjustment is very smooth, which allows you to head out for training without losing precious minutes readjusting your laces. The overall lock is ultra secure: the support is really excellent. The foot is held firmly without being compressed, which promises long runs without numbness.
Regarding the shoe's width, I’d say it’s normal. I didn’t experience any rubbing and the support is very comfortable. The toe box space is just right to let the foot naturally expand during effort, while perfectly locking the ankle and heel at the back. The ergonomics seem to have been designed to fit a wide majority of runners.

Real Condition Test: Great Versatility from Road to Trails
To get an extremely precise and objective idea of these shoes’ potential, I put them to the test during 5 runs between 4 and 11 km. This nice variety of distances allowed me to see exactly how the foam and structure reacted during short, sharp efforts as well as during sessions requiring a bit more endurance.
I deliberately varied my usual training terrains to test their real versatility off the beaten path. I ran on road, in the forest, and on trails. The shoe performed very well on all terrains. I found the ankle support very good and had no slipping. It’s a real asset for a shoe mainly intended for asphalt to be able to escape into nature without apprehension.
Concerning intensity and length of effort, I did classic runs between 4 and 11 km. I didn’t feel any difference depending on the distance, the shoe remains very comfortable from start to finish. As for the weather, I tested them in dry conditions, in summer. In these conditions, they performed very well, offering impeccable traction on dusty ground or hot tarmac.
In total, my counter shows a mileage of 32.5 km. The most interesting thing during this testing period was the evolution of my own feeling. Over the runs, I found them more and more pleasant. My foot needed to get used to the shoe and my last 11 km run was a real pleasure. The shoe gradually adapts to our morphology, which makes the running experience smoother and smoother.
Performance assessment: balanced cushioning for enhanced dynamism
Let's now dive into the analysis of the stride and pure performance on the ground. Regarding plantar protection, my experience was very conclusive. Although I haven't been able to test them in the rain or on wet terrain, so I prefer not to rate this aspect. However, in the forest, branches and pine cones did not bother me. On the trails, I was not disturbed by stones; the cushioning does its job well by perfectly filtering the irregularities of the ground.
Safety and confidence are essential when logging miles. With this model, the support is very good and the ankle remains stable. Even in turns or on somewhat uneven terrain, I felt confident. In addition, there is good grip on the dry terrains I tested. Overall, the shoe is stable and reassuring throughout the stride, allowing you to relax your focus and enjoy the scenery.
At ground impact, the transition is smooth: the roll is natural and the shoe follows the stride nicely. As for shock management, it’s clearly one of the strong points. I find the cushioning well balanced, neither too soft nor too firm. It perfectly suits my practice and protects the joints very well.
But the real nice surprise of this test came from the rebound. The technological contribution of this new model is undeniable: yes, I find them much more dynamic than the Novablast 5. You really feel more bounce and propulsion while maintaining comfort. It’s extremely enjoyable to energize your runs and have fun at somewhat faster paces.
Finally, in terms of breathability and thermal management, particularly important in the height of summer, I would like to answer this question after testing them on wet terrain. Regarding sweating, I encountered no problem. The mesh is well designed, airy, and perfectly fulfills its role of evacuating body heat.

Durability and wear: solid materials put to the test of kilometers
Although the thirty-kilometer mark is an early stage to judge the end of life of a running shoe, the very first longevity indicators are excellent and promising. The materials seem solid to me. After about 30 km and a first wash, I noticed no signs of premature wear, neither on the outsole nor on the upper fabric.
Machine washing, done on a gentle cycle after my somewhat dusty outings in the forest, has not at all altered the shoe’s fit. The pale pink color, which I feared might get dirty, came out just as bright as on day one. The foam has not lost its bounce, and the support remained the same. I am therefore extremely confident in their ability to accompany me for a very long time on the roads.
In conclusion, this Asics Novablast 6 is a real success. It perfectly honors the reputation of this line by bringing an extra vitality and comfort that proves very appreciable for daily training!
