Zipp ZR1 Rear Hub | 24 Holes | 12x142 mm | CenterLock | Black Zipp

When designing the new hub for our pro-proven Firecrest wheel line, we turned to our engineers at the Sram development center in Schweinfurt, Germany. Working with them, we developed the ZR1 hub for disc and rim brake wheels.

The new hub features an improved seal for longer life and 66 engagement points for greater responsiveness. Our engineers worked for more than two years to design the ZR1.
Proof of the hub's longevity: more than 58,500 km on roads and trails as part of 3,222 total hours of testing.

It features advanced technologies used in Zipp Cognition hubs.
The seal design is the same as the Cognition hub, with dust protection at the base of the hub body and better seal bearings for added protection. The bearings are also the same size as the Cognition hub. But the Cognition hub uses higher end bearings.

The six pawls are staggered to work in two groups of three pawls. At any given time, there are always three pawls engaged. This design creates a faster engagement, with 66 engagement points. The freewheel body is designed to keep the pawls in place for removal for easy maintenance.

Zipp hubs are designed to use bent-head (J-Bend) spokes, the most popular type of spokes today. Widely available curved-head (J-Bend) spokes are easier to replace.
