Triathletes can suffer, but sitting pain is proportionally more common. The extreme sitting position associated with long cycling sessions is an ergonomic challenge.
The 613 Ergowave® R Carbon doesn't yet exert all the pressure on the seat bones thanks to its raised rear, but for the first time in triathlon, it does exert it in the direction of the ischials. The perineal area is relieved, and the extra support towards the rear improves force transmission. A positive side-effect is that skin irritations are reduced.
The reason why the SQlab stepped saddle adaptation didn't appear until five years after the SQlab Ergowave® form lies in the details. Harmonizing the position and height of the step, combined with the size, dip and width, as well as the drooping tip of the nose, was a major development effort.
