Designed for speed and wider tyres, the Shimano Ultegra R8170 C60 wheels share their full carbon rim profile with the Dura-Ace, but use a hub that is compatible with 12 and 11 speed cassettes.

For situations where aerodynamics is the priority, the new Shimano Ultegra R8170 C60 wheelset features tubeless compatible 21mm internal width full carbon rims, and ultra-fast cone/cup bearing hubs compatible with 12 and 11 speed cassettes.

Technology : D2 rim
  • Aerodynamics is negatively impacted by wind direction. To create the D2 rim, SHIMANO engineers have taken into account both the headwind and the sidewind, in order to obtain optimal performance in real conditions. Numerous prototype tests, both in the wind tunnel and on the road, have shown that a wide, deep rim performs better in most conditions. At yaw angles between 0 and 15 degrees, the SHIMANO D2 rim reduces air braking better than other aerodynamic rims. This rim shape also increases the lateral stiffness of the wheel and offers more verticality, for more control, comfort and durability on the road.
