These days, there's

no single definition of "the road. So Rival has plenty of options, no matter what type of tarmac surface you prefer. The Rival eTap AXS rear derailleur is compatible with both 1x and 2x drivetrains and also works with a 36-tooth cassette, so you'll have a smooth ride whether you're on top of Mont Ventoux or competing in a local criterium.

Here's how:

- I want to ride fast. - Who doesn't want to win a sprint? Obviously, you go all out for a pint of beer. A combination of 48/35 chainrings and a 10-30 cassette will help you get to the front of the pack at a criterium, road race, triathlon or Sunday sprint.
- I want to climb. - If your cycling list includes a lot of mountain passes, a 46/33 chainring combination with a 10-33 or 10-36 cassette will make it easier to reach the top every time. Now you can add those climbs to the list!

You don't have to fit perfectly into one of these categories to find the right Rival configuration for road riding.
