What to do if you are in between bike sizes?
If you are on the edge of two different bike sizes, don't worry, you'll probably be ok on either size (rather than thinking that one size will be awful and the other will fit). Indeed, bikes are adjustable: the seatpost can slide up and down, the saddle can move backwards and forwards and you can even switch out parts like the stem for different sized ones to help the bike fit better.
Finding out whether or not you should pick a bigger or a smaller frame is sometimes as simple as personal preference, but there are a few simple ways to work out which might suit best:
- If you’re flexible, you might prefer a shorter head tube, so the smaller size might work out better for you. You can use a longer stem to make the reach more comfortable.
- On a bigger bike, the reach to the handlebars will be longer. This means that if you have proportionally longer arms, you might be more comfortable on a bigger frame.

The Cannondale Topstone Carbon is an unprecedented gravel bike with real suspension. It is the most versatile and comfortable "road bike" the brand has ever designed. It concentrates Cannondale's expertise in making fast competition bikes, comfortable endurance bikes and ultralight full-suspension mountain bikes, in one exceptional machine, designed to take maximum pleasure in terrain inaccessible to most gravel bikes, and for riding with maximum comfort on more ordinary terrain.
The Cannondale Topstone Carbon 4 features Kingpin technology, a revolutionary suspension system, for a more aggressive ride on dirt roads and more comfortable on the road. A through pivot in the seat tube allows the entire rear part of the frame (seatstays, chainstays, seat tube, and even the rear of the top tube) to flex like a connected leaf spring, and 'Absorb bumps and vibrations from the road avoiding the complexity of a link shock absorber. Incredibly light and sturdy, Kingpin suspension offers up to 30mm of travel (combined saddle and rear axle flex) that improves comfort, traction and control in both seated and standing positions , and lets you ride smoother and go harder than ever.
With its riding position relaxed enough for long distances and sporty enough for intensive outings, Topstone Carbon guarantees both excellent comfort for day trips and precise control for trail rides. There are plenty of places to install your gear and bottle, with a multi-position hitch on the down tube, as well as ties on the top tube, seat tube, under the down tube, and even on the fork.
With clearance for really big tires (700x40c or 650bx48c, still saving space) Topstone Carbon widens your field of action and increases your enjoyment. The integrated wheel sensor provides a lot of very precise information on speed, route and distance. It also allows you to register your bike and reminds you, among other things, of necessary maintenance operations, all via the Cannondale app.
