Introducing the AbsoluteBlack Premium Oval Sub-Compact 110/5 BCD chainrings with the Sub-Compact size to improve your climbing and cadence.

Increased cadence is essential to reduce perceived effort. With the 48/32T chainrings you can ride anywhere and climb anything. Alpine climbs will never be this hard again. These special super compact chainrings are designed for Shimano 110/4bcd cranks, making AbsoluteBLACK the only company on the market offering such sizes. The 32T chainring allows you to climb on your own terms with improved cadence and efficiency. It is the most premium oval platter on the market with scientifically proven performance gains.

Oval chainrings don't produce more force, they increase pedaling efficiency through better force transmission. This means that you won't necessarily go further by pedaling harder. But the less force you lose, the more energy you keep, allowing you to pedal harder when you need to and thus reducing your general fatigue. That's why you can ride faster, longer and further with oval chainrings.

Studies conducted by the University of Primorska, Slovenia, show significant differences between the use of AbsoluteBlack Oval chainrings and conventional round chainrings. It is proven that using an oval chainring can provide up to a 9% increase in pedal stroke efficiency, up to 7% less oxygen consumption, 15% less breathing and up to a 10% decrease in heart rate.

IMPORTANT :
  • Our Sub Compact chainrings are not compatible with some power meters that have a circular spider design (some Quarq models, Power2Max, etc...)
  • Due to the very special construction of 2.5 mm offset of BOTH chainrings to the frame and custom bolts 32T cannot work with 48T and a special 48/32 bolt set.
  • Due to the special construction of the assembly, cosmetic bolt covers are not available for this design
  • Absolute Black always recommends using a new chain when fitting new chainrings.
  • SRAM Yaw Front Derailleur Compatibility - Due to the construction of SRAM Yaw front derailleurs, our Sub Compact chainrings are not compatible with them.
  • If you replace your Yaw front derailleur with a Shimano equivalent (there are no indexing issues between Shimano FD and SRAM shifters), you will be able to use our Sub Compact chainrings.

HOW TO MOUNT THE SUPER COMPACT 48/32T 110/5 OVAL CHAINRING :

First of all, you need to remove the crank from your bike. Once removed, unscrew the 5 screws that hold the two chainrings together with a T-30 torx spanner. Remove the two original rings and start by placing the large chainring on the crank. Please note that the small triangular indicator on the inner circumference of the chainring should be behind the crank arm - the same way the original chainring indicates its position. Next, locate the triangular mark on the inner circumference of the small chainring and ensure that it is also behind the crank. The small chainring also has an integrated spacer on one side. These spacers must fit into the mounting holes of the crank. The 32T chainring is supplied with 5 M5 screws (Torx T-25). Lock both chainrings in place with the supplied screws and tighten them to a torque of 4-5 Nm. In the case of Sram cranks with a hidden bolt, the indicators of both chainrings must be positioned exactly opposite the crank arm to ensure correct timing of the oval rings in relation to the crank arm.
