Description

A worn bike chain leads to poor shifting performance and can actually wear out the transmission components, causing more costly problems. Park Tool’s CC-4.2 chain checker is a retractable style gauge that measures the wear and tear of the bike chain. The CC-4.2 laser cut accurately measures a long section of chain and strategically contacts the chain in three places, quickly and easily eliminating guesswork to determine when chain replacement is required. The tool works on any 5 to 13-speed derailleur chain (including SRAM® T-Type, SRAM® Flattop TM, Shimano® XTR® 12-speed and Campagnolo® EkarTM 13-speed) or one-speed chain, and is designed to accurately indicate when a chain reaches 0.5%, 0.75% and 1.0% wear, the points at which most chain manufacturers suggest replacing it.
