Sport Clothing & Accessories
Once you've bought your bike, it's time to choose a proper outfit to ride comfortably. Your bike equipment will be adapted to your practice: mountain bike, road bike or triathlon.
MTB equipment offers comfort and safety to go on more or less uneven terrain. Mountain bike clothing is large and breathable, with a different style than road bike. The MTB jersey doesn't have a pocket integrated in the jersey so the mountain biker will use a backpack instead. The shorts are equipped with chamois leather but are wider than the road cycling shorts.
To complete the MTB equipment, it will be necessary to choose MTB shoes which are adapted to automatic pedals and to be able to walk.
The helmet is worn with visor, integral or not depending on your practice. Wearing glasses is essential to avoid splashing in the eyes and gloves should be long enough to protect the hands well. It's advisable to add protections for the arms and legs.
Road bike equipment
The cycling equipment consists of cycling shorts and a jersey equipped with an integrated pocket to put provisions or accessories. The most important element in choosing the cycling outfit is the shorts, as the chamois skin must be of good quality for long outings.
The women's cycling outfit consists of the same elements as the men's cycling outfit but with a jersey with a more fitting feminine cut. To complete your cycling outfit, you'll need shoes equipped with wedges for automatic pedals.
The triathlon equipment is very similar to cycling equipment in regards to clothing.
Indeed, men's bike clothing will be the same as for road bike clothing, ditto for women's bike clothing. Bike shoes are special triathlon shoes with an easy opening, usually a single scratch, to save time during the transition."
